China Day #6 – 1st world and 3rd world collide (No Comments)
Sorry for the lack of update. I’ve been in the rural areas of China and internet connection is either too slow or non-existent. The trip to the orphanage and spending National Children’s Day (and my birthday) with the kids was absolutely amazing. You can’t beat spending a birthday with 40 orphans that pour love on you. I want to first off thank ALL those that supported, especially the Boxed Love makers (I will have more for you later).
My friend, Adam, who came on the trip said something that I never considered before. Driving to Yu-Lin from Hong Kong you need to drive past GuangDong province, which is a much richer area of China compared to the area where the orphanage is at. He mentioned that he’s never seen first world and third world so close in proximity…and the contrast is enormous. China has made huge strides…but still, the rich are RICH and the poor are POOR.
I will update everyone a bit later. Though I’m on my way back to Hong Kong (making a pit stop in GuangDong) and do have internet, it’s still a bit slow…so be patient, more to come! The big man upstairs definitely has been absolutely amazing (and humorous). Our days with the orphanage were awesome – dry and sunny skies. However, the moment we make a pit stop on the way back to Hong Kong to play some golf, it begins to POUR down rain. Gotta love the humor.
Looking up,
Brother Dan
