Reflecting in Hong Kong (Alberta) (No Comments)
From third world to first world, rice fields to Starbucks, wagons to cars – it is back to “reality”. Stepping foot into Hong Kong felt quite strange. I miss the rural villages of Yu-Lin, the simplicity of life there. I miss the orphans, all 41 of them. I look forward to my next trip back to Yu-Lin, hopefully this year, and soaking in the smiles of the children. Spending time with the kids allowed me to realize the power of our love for others, especially of those in need. Most of these orphans have never experienced the love of family, but with the love of the orphanage staff and other orphans, each child has learned to smile and laugh. A new 14 year-old girl was brought to the orphanage on our last day in Yu-Lin. She was often seen sitting alone, crying, unwilling to play with the other kids. I was touched to see a few girls talk to her and try to make her smile. I am excited to see how love will make its way into her life as I am sure the next time I see her she will be all smiles.
Missing the orphanage like crazy….!
