Departing Gongyi… (No Comments)

Our last day in pictures. Click on image to enlarge.

I went to bed last night thinking it would be my last time seeing these kiddos [for at least some time], since we needed to leave so early in the morning to catch our plane. However, I woke up to doors knocking at 5:10 AM…with 6-7 kids standing there to say goodbye. It’s weird and awesome that in just such a short time, a deep connection – of trust, respect, and even love – can be built with children. My future may be uncertain, I may not know how I’ll support my family, I may not know where my kids are going to go to school, I may not know what rural village I’ll end up in; but one thing is for certain, and that is every time I spend time with children like these, it’s like God reassuring me, re-energizing me, and telling me to push on for He has even more wonderful things to reveal.

At the airport, I craved an AMERICAN sandwich and fries:

The best airport lounge I’ve ever been to (Beijing, China):

Fresh brewed tea, traditional style

Cool chips

Fresh fruit

Shown: vegetables, noodles, lamb, dim sum; Not Shown: sushi, soup, other dim sum, desserts, etc

Thanks for all the prayers and support! It has been a great trip – of learning and fellowship.

Looking up with great anticipation,
Dan

Love (No Comments)

I think I actually LOVE some of these kids. For those who know me, I don’t use that word lightly. These kids will always have a place in my heart. I wonder how our paths will cross again in the future…

We weren’t able to give very much, but what we could give included a copier for Home of Hope’s office and some back-packs for all the kids.

Switching out the old with the new:

Our awesome final dinner!

I’m going to miss these kids so much!
